10 Reasons to Run!
March 31st – Ideal to run as pre London or Brighton Marathon warm up, just 4 weeks before London, 2 weeks before Brighton and 1 week before Manchester. Great officially measured and timed 16 mile route with an 8 mile option for those wanting a shorter run.
The race starts and finishes in Kingston Ancient Marketplace. It’s a great setting with a number of old coaching Inns still in place. Kingston has a fantastic history and is now a major growth area in London. Finish the race and drop in to one of the local restaurants for a coffee and breakfast.
Starting in the famous Ancient Market Place, runners will cross over the Thames on Kingston Bridge before heading alongside the Thames towards the magnificent Hampton Court Palace. Runners then travel through Thames Ditton before heading back towards Kingston for the classic marketplace Finish.
There are not many races at 8 miles and 16 miles but both have proved extremely popular in Kingston over the last thirty years. The 8 miles is long enough to count as a distance race and is a good run for beginners or those recovering from injury or a lay off. It also proves an ideal stepping stone for those wishing to run 10 miles or conquer a Half Marathon. The 16 mile race offers the opportunity to check out your fitness levels over the longer distance, ideal for marathon training or a long race in its own right. If your schedule calls for 18 or 20 miles, run out to the one or 2 mile points before or after the race to make up the additional distance.
This fast, flat course on good running surfaces gives excellent opportunities for a quick time and potential PB! The courses are being officially measured and we will publish the exact distances. Both races are also being chip timed.
Gun and chip timing so you will get your personal time exact even if it takes a few minutes to cross the line at the start. All results up same day. Plus a downloadable finishers certificate.
Special bespoke design medal – It’s big, its heavy, you will want to wear it!
Fruit and water at the Finish. Kingston market traders and local cafes also give you a wide range of options for a post race snack or meal!
Baggage no problem with secure baggage drop and retrieval in place.
We have an arrangement with local parking for a £5 all day pass for runners (see details on the Race Day info page). Alternatively the start is only 5 minutes from Kingston Train Station which provides regular services from and to London. Many buses terminate or pass through Kingston central. Bike racks in the town are readily available.
